Happy New Year!

Today is the very last day of 2013.
2013 has been a challenging but enlightening year for me. I feel like I have taken the first steps to a financially secure future and less stressful way of life where I will be free to do the things that I enjoy most like walking in the countryside with Ollie and Graham or spending time with friends and family.
I have realised this year that Time is the most precious thing we have and we need to spend it wisely.
Every day that I manage to spend working on my dreams takes me a step closer to where I wish to be.
Happy New Year everyone I hope that 2014 helps you to make your dreams and wishes come true.
Never give up on your dreams!

hopeful signs

I have noticed people seeming a little more optimistic just lately. Could it be the beautiful sunshine we have been having or did people have a lovely Christmas? As I look around me people seem to be smiling more and walking with a little more spring in their step.
I hope this cheerfulness continues into the New Year as it will make a lovely start to 2014 if people start off hopeful and optimistic and we all pull together to support one another and help people out whenever we can.
Change is hard but if everyone hopes for the best possible outcomes for themselves and their loved ones and we all keep our eyes out to see how we can help and support others particularly when they have a difficult day imagine what we can all achieve!

New Year

How will you be spending your New Year's Eve?
Over the years I have done a lot of different things and been to a lot of different places to bring in the New Year.
One of my favourite things to do has been to watch Jools Holland and all the musicians celebrating. This can be done sitting with friends, family, complete strangers or on your own.
Many people believe it is 'just another evening' and in many ways they are right. I don't see the point in being involved in a big party if that is not the kind of thing you enjoy and there are many other days and occasions you may prefer to celebrate.
Other people see the evening as 'out with the old and in with the new' and it provides them with an opportunity to make a fresh start.
I use the end of one year and the start of another to reflect on the things that are truly important to me and to think about my goals, wishes and hopes for the future.

resolutions

Are you making any resolutions for 2014?
I have been thinking a  lot about all the things that I have learnt this year and how I can further develop my skills in 2014.
I have really enjoyed 2013 and particularly enjoyed meeting so many like minded people. It has been something of a revelation to me to discover that there are people out there who also question the way things are in the World including the world of work and believe there to be a better way.
I am learning a lot from these people and hope in 2014 I will be able to move forward further with what I am learning.
It has been lovely to get back in touch with people that I hadn't seen for ages too. I won't be leaving things so long in 2014.
This year has started to teach me about what is important and what isn't. I am slowly learning to worry less, listen and reflect more and to be more positive and appreciative of the wonderful life I have been given.

Music

I have been thinking about different songs and how they mean different things to me at different times. Music inspires and puts me in touch with the things that are truly important to me.
I am so grateful to musicians and artists and the people that dare to be different. They follow their dreams, share their talents and enrich the World for so many people.
I am trying to think about my top 30 favourite songs. That is very difficult as they shift and change according to my current mood or situation.
After giving this quite a lot of thought my top 30 songs today are in no particular order:

The Vaccines: If You Wanna
Lorde: Royals
The Jam: That's Entertainment
Pulp: Common People
Marc Almond: Bedsitter
The Beatles: Norwegian Wood
David Bowie: Fill Your Heart
Blurr: Song 2
Marc Almond: Jacky

Moving on...

It doesn't feel like my new life any more so I have decided to create a new blog about the things that happen to me and the things I think about now that my businesses are no longer completely new and I have left the world of full time teaching behind.
It seems to be a good time of year to do this as it is almost the end of one year and the start or another.
Who knows what the future will bring but what I do know is that I am so glad that I took the decision to do something different, make some changes and do new things.
I have made a lot of mistakes along the way and have learnt at least as much from my mistakes as my successes.
I am surrounded by people who care about me and help me to progress in all kinds of ways and it is really reassuring to know that there are knowledgeable, generous people out there who encourage and support me as I try new things to see how they will work out.
